Why I am here?

On any given weekday, I wake up and I am paid to perform roughly the same task 9 to 5. Thankfully it pays my rent, heat, food and car. I often get home tired from sitting and staring at the screen all day. So when I get home, I turn on the TV and lay on the couch.

A 9 to 5 job used to be the standard for stability and success, the cornerstone of happiness. However I often ask myself:

  • how safe is the job of employee "UD1445" in today's world? It's not.
  • how can I ensure success without passion? I can't.
  • Is long term work stress, depression or anxiety, worth my salary? No.

The daily office routine just drains the life out of me. Doing the same thing over and over again, cluelessly attending one meeting after another, receiving or sending 10 emails to get a simple thing done...

What I love is the freedom, complexity and efficiency of open source web technology. What I love is solving business case studies. So I started my own website management business, "Peerpole", to assist small businesses that are not technology oriented.

Since I am still working full time to pay my bills, this venture makes for long days and short weekends but overtime

  • Depending on my business instead of corporation means better job security.
  • Doing what I LOVE and CAN DO, I am more likely to succeed.
  • The happiness, satisfaction and pleasure I derive from Peerpole will be worth my time and energy.

In the end, "The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live." _ Leo F. Buscaglia
